Enabling Cookies

The following is the procedure for enabling cookies in Microsoft Internet Explorer:
1. On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options
2. Click the Security tab
3. Click the Custom Level button
4. Scroll down to the heading Cookies and click the radio button Enable for each of the sub-headings: Allow cookies that are stored on your computer; Allow per-session cookies (not stored).
5. Click OK and exit out of the Internet Option feature.

To enable cookies in Netscape:
1. On the Edit menue in Netscape, click on Preferences
2. Double-Click on Advanced category to expand.
3. Select Cookies from the listing
4. Click on the radio button Enable - Enable all cookies in the Cookies Acceptance Policy and click OK .

Cookies contain information about you and your preferences. For example, if you inquire about a flight schedule at an airline's website, the site might create a cookie that contains your itinerary. Or it might only contain a record of which pages within the site you visited, to help the site customize the view for you the next time you visit.

Allowing a website to create a cookie does not give that or any other site access to the rest of your computer, and only the site that created the cookie can read it.
